On 2nd June 2023, a delegation from the Department of Bioinformatics and Biosciences, Capital University of Science & Technology (CUST), Islamabad, visited MGBio: A Tech-Bio Company at NUST, H-12 Campus, Islamabad, to formalize a collaborative partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The session commenced with an introduction to NUST and the pioneering work of MGBio in genomics, bioinformatics, and biotech innovation. Representatives from CUST shared their institutional vision, capabilities, and strategic objectives in life sciences research and education. The MoU outlines a shared commitment to cooperation in key areas including R&D projects, access to laboratory and testing facilities, specialized training and short courses, and curriculum development. Both parties also agreed to explore internship and hiring opportunities for students, and to work jointly towards the commercialization of biotechnology innovations. In their closing remarks, Dr. Amjad Ali, CEO of MGBio, and Dr. Sahar Fazal, representing CUST, underscored the importance of academic-industry linkages in advancing national development. They emphasized that this partnership reflects a mutual drive for delivering synergistic solutions that contribute meaningfully to the healthcare and biotechnology sectors in Pakistan. This collaboration marks a significant step toward fostering innovation, capacity building, and impactful knowledge exchange between academia and industry.
